Sebastian Pinzon – Artist Statement

Having the creativity to explore and expand on new ideas, I believe that many things have the ability of being used again with different functions. The idea of reducing, reusing, and recycling has never failed to seize my attention.

I have learned how important it is to help our planet by recycling as much as you can. The simplicity in the medium I use in my most of my 3-D artwork aids to demonstrate how easily an individual can help the planet by reusing and recycling materials, such as common plastic water bottles. I am aware of the global concerns that we are currently experiencing and understand that recycling is indescribably essential as a means to reduce toxic discharge into the atmosphere and also to conserve our natural resources.

The central idea of most my artwork is the creation and installation of a living room set using only recyclable materials, specifically plastic water bottles.

I try to emulate my artwork, the living room set made out of recyclable materials, as realistic and interesting as possible with an attempt to grasp viewers’ attentions and persuade them to recycle more and give one person’s trash a second life.
